You cannot add a user to a list until a user profile has been created for the user. Be sure you have created the user profiles first before creating a notification list. Use the property pages to associate notification lists with systems and subsystem critical events. You must first create a notification list before you can associate a system or controller with a notification list. s s Using the Command Line Interpreter (CLI) Window The Command Line Interpreter (CLI) is a text-based interface utility for monitoring and configuring your subsystem. Because the configuration of the subsystem can be changed using CLI commands, allow CLI access only to users who are familiar with CLI operation. The CLI Window has a command-entry area and a command response area below it. You can enter commands in the command-entry area, and the controller responds with the results of the entry in the response area. Accessing the CLI Window: There are two ways to access the CLI Window: from the Start menu or by double-clicking the CLI Window icon in the program group. From the Start menu: Select Command Console then CLI Window applet. In the Navigation Window, click the subsystem's host system icon to expand the tree and display the CLI Window icon. Click the CLI Window icon for your subsystem. If the program prompts you for your password, enter it and the CLI Window appears. CLI Window Chapter 3 Command Console's Windows, Menus, and Tools This chapter describes Command Console windows, menus, and tools. Introduction Command Console is a Windows-style graphical user interface that uses standard Windows navigation, command selection and configuration features. Folders are used to arrange subsystems and a wizard creates virtual disks. Options and commands are selected using drop-down menus, tabs, dialog boxes, radio buttons, and check boxes. Windows can be sized and moved or minimized. Command Console Client has three main windows: the Navigation Window, CLI Window, and the Storage Window, as shown in Figure 3-1. 3-2 Compaq StorageWorks Command Console V2. 3 User Guide Navigation Window: A navigation tool for adding host computers and subsystems to the network and for management of subsystems over a network.
