[. . . ] Valid license from Compaq required for possession, use or copying. Consistent with FAR 12. 211 and 12. 212, Commercial Computer Software, Computer Software Documentation, and Technical Data for Commercial Items are licensed to the U. S. Government under vendor's standard commercial license. Hewlett-Packard Company shall not be liable for technical or editorial errors or omissions contained herein. [. . . ] As more jobs are submitted for execution, the EVM server becomes less responsive to new requests and performance starts to be impacted. No More Than Eight Storage Systems in a Single Job EVM V2. 0D supports jobs that include individual units from up to eight different HSG-based storage systems and two different HSV-based storage systems. No More Than Sixteen Simultaneous Active Browser Connections EVM V2. 0D supports up to sixteen simultaneous active browser sessions, meaning that up to sixteen different users can actively use the EVM GUI at the same time. The overhead associated with updating more than sixteen sessions results in excessive Management Appliance memory use and a decrease in overall GUI responsiveness. Local Browsing on the Management Appliance Is Not Supported Browsing to the EVM GUI from the Management Appliance using the locally installed browser is not supported. This limitation includes running the Management Appliance browser via a Terminal Services session. Security Timeout May Require a Browser Refresh Security for Web access to the Management Appliance is provided by the HP OpenView OSM software running on the Management Appliance. With the OSM security model, the authentication granted to each browser session expires after 15 minutes of inactivity. When this occurs, log in again to gain access. Under certain circumstances, the OSM security expiration may also reset the connection between the browser and the EVM GUI. If the "running jobs" applet at the top of the EVM GUI window turns red, the connection has been reset. If this occurs, refresh the browser to redirect the browser to the EVM Resource page and establish a new connection to the EVM GUI. Release Notes Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Server Version 2. 0D 7 Limitations and Known Issues Do Not Mix Volume and Unit Style Commands Within a Job When creating a job, use either the "volume" syntax or the "unit" syntax exclusively. Mixing the two syntaxes within the same job causes the job to fail. The following error message displays: "Could not map host/volume to physical storage. " Appliance Backup/Restore Utilities Require a Restart of the EVM Server The Backup Appliance and Restore Appliance utilities provided by the OpenView Appliance Manager cause many of the Management Appliance services to be stopped. EVM depends on many of these services and cannot recover if they are stopped unexpectedly. To ensure proper EVM operation, the EVM server must be restarted if either of these utilities are used. CAUTION: Make sure that no EVM jobs are running before stopping the EVM server to prevent the possible loss of data on BCVs. MOUNT Is Not Supported as a Stand-alone Function The MOUNT operation is intended to be used with Business Continuance Volumes (BCVs) that are created in the same job. Trying to use MOUNT with a device that is not an EVM-created BCV or with a BCV that was created by a different EVM job is not supported. After Adding Enterprise Licenses, EVM Server Must Be Restarted The only time EVM checks the HSV license information is at startup. Adding or changing license information requires restarting the EVM server before EVM can recognize these changes. EVM Performance EVM V2. 0D can simultaneously support up to 25 HSG storage systems and 16 HSV-based storage systems. However, as the number of storage systems increases, EVM job performance and user interface responsiveness can degrade. Actual performance depends on several factors, including the number of running jobs, the number of steps and complexity of the jobs, and I/O activity on the storage systems and hosts. 8 Release Notes Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Server Version 2. 0D Limitations and Known Issues BCV Delete Operations on HSV Controllers Can Take a Long Time to Complete The time required to delete an HSV snapshot or snapclone depends on the size of the BCV to delete and how busy the storage system is at the time. Large BCVs on busy storage systems can take several hours to delete. Typically, during this time frame, another BCV of the same source vdisk cannot be created. Account for this limitation when planning EVM job operations. In some cases, this may cause the EVM GUI to display the "Loading EVM Data!" message indefinitely. From the HSV Password tab, enter the correct username and password information. CAUTION: Make sure that no EVM jobs are running before stopping the EVM server to prevent the possible loss of data on BCVs. c. Restart EVM server. 10 Release Notes Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Server Version 2. 0D Limitations and Known Issues · The second cause for this problem involves how EVM and the Element Manager interact under certain startup conditions. [. . . ] To prevent this problem, do not use characters that cannot also be used in a filename when creating HSG storage system names. In general, all alphanumeric characters and the dash (-), dot (. ), and underscore (_) characters are safe. Tru64 UNIX Clusters (TruClusters) Are Not Displayed in Save/Restore Drop-down List TruCluster names do not display in the Hosts drop-down list in the EVM Configuration window, under the Save/Reload tab. Nonclustered Tru64 UNIX hosts are displayed in this drop-down list. This problem will be addressed in a future version of EVM. Windows 2000 Dynamic Disks Are Displayed as RAW on the EVM Resources Page This problem will be corrected in a future release of EVM. 12 Release Notes Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Server Version 2. 0D Limitations and Known Issues Windows Cluster Icons May Not Display the Correct Volume Information During an initial installation, Windows cluster icons on the EVM Resources page may not display the correct volume information in some circumstances.
