[. . . ] To protect the engine, remove spark plug and pour 1/2 ounce (14. 2 mL) of SAE 10 weight oil into the engine through the spark plug hole. Rotate engine crankshaft by hand several times, then install the spark plug and tighten to 20 ft-lb (27 N·m). Adjust tires to recommended tire pressure. Perform semiannual periodic lubrication. See Periodic Lubrication Schedules on page 34. Thoroughly clean front body, rear body, seats, engine compartment, and underside of vehicle. Chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
RETURNING THE STORED GASOLINE VEHICLE TO SERVICE
1. Restore fuel system to operation (Figure 32, Page 47). Connect battery cables, positive (+) cable first, and tighten terminals to 12 ft-lb (16 N·m). Completely open the fuel shut-off valve (Figure 17). A partially closed fuel shut-off valve (Figure 18) combined with the use of the choke can result in a fouled spark plug and engine failure. • To avoid unintentionally starting the vehicle, before servicing always disconnect the battery, negative (–) cable first (Figure 1, Page 11) and disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. • Frame ground – Do not allow tools or other metal objects to contact frame when disconnecting batteries or other electrical wiring. Never allow a positive wire to touch the vehicle frame, engine, or other metal component.
