[. . . ] Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used and remove all objects which may be thrown by the machine. - Refuel outdoors only and do not smoke while refueling. Never remove the cap of the fuel tank or add petrol while the engine is running or when the engine is hot. - If petrol is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine but move the machine away from the area of spillage and avoid creating any source of ignition until petrol vapors have dissipated. [. . . ] Pivot seat upward and remove from cardboard packing. Fit the seat to the seat pan as shown in the diagram. Adjust the seat to give you a comfortable working position. NOTE: If battery is put into service after month and year indicated on label, charge battery for minimum of one hour at 6-10 amps. WARNING: Before installing battery remove metal bracelets, wrist watch bands, rings, etc. Touching these items to battery could result in burns. WARNING: Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparks from accidental grounding. WARNING: Keep battery box door closed when not used to inspect terminals. Make sure that the front wheels point straight ahead and that the steering wheel bar points across the tractor. Do not attempt to start tractor at this time. This control will increase or decrease the speed of the engine. Parking brake lever: Set parking brake lever when leaving tractor by pushing clutch/brake pedal completely down. NOTE: There will be an engine hesitation when the clutch engages. Mower lift lever: Use to raise or lower mower deck. WARNING: Be sure you understand all the controls before going any further. WARNING: Know how to stop your tractor before attempting to operate it. Push clutch/brake pedal all the way down to "brake" position. While still pushing down the clutch/brake pedal, move gearshift lever to "neutral" position. Check engine oil level This engine has been shipped with summer grade oil. These fuels can cause internal damage to your tractor. Starting the engine Turn ignition key to "start". CAUTION: Do not run starter continuously for more than fifteen seconds per minute. [. . . ] If distance is other than 1-1/2" (38 mm), loosen jam nut and turn nut "A" until distance becomes 1-1/2" (38 mm).
