The transceiver will use the transponder's data information and make the DSC call on channel 70, then wait for the target vessel to acknowledge it. After receiving the acknowledgement `Able to comply, ' use the transceiver to communicate with the target vessel on the predetermined voice channel. *See the leaflet that comes with the transponder for details of the transceivers which can operate with this function.
