[. . . ] DATA TRANSMISSION if- mail DATA TRANSMISSION WITH EMAIL GATEWAY FOR HF NETWORKS IF-MAIL is a program that makes it possible for isolated points of contact, which cannot connect to a wired telephone network, to be able to send and receive e-mails to the set of stations on the network by using a radio link (a). [. . . ] Once installed and set up, IF-MAIL works in the Windows background. The user will only need to use Outlook Express. Sending emails IF-MAIL periodically establishes radio contact with the other stations on the network, on a frequency set and according to pre-defined time zones so that data transfer is optimised. IF-MAIL makes it possible to send emails using radio transmissions. It also makes it possible to send emails all over the world by connecting with the main station, which will serve as the router to the Internet. "Chat" dialogue mode The "chat» feature makes a dialogue between two stations possible by typing short sentences directly onto the keyboard. Confidentiality IF-MAIL is available in a standard version, with DES 56 type encryption and in a "government" reserved version with AES 256 type encryption. Encryption is carried out on the entire message, including the header, ensuring that any communication stays confidential. The "chat" function will have simplified encryption applied. Operator intervention The operator can intervene by manually initiating a connection with a distant station. When the operator does this, the message service can be interrupted in order to make a voice radio station transmission or telegraphy (CW) possible. Other possibilities The transfer of files is supported in the same way as for traditional Outlook exchanges.
