PRECAUTIONS R WARNING!NEVER hold the transcever so that the antenna s very close to, or touchng exposed parts of the body, especally the face or eyes, whle transmttng. The transcever wll perform best f the mcrophone s 5 to 10 cm away from the lps and the transcever s vertcal. R WARNING! [. . . ] e When recevng a call, adjust the audo output level to a comfortable lstenng level. Transmitting: Wat for the channel to become clear to avod nterference. q Whle pushng and holdng [PTT], speak nto the mcrophone at a normal voce level. · When a tone sgnallng system s used, the call procedure descrbed at the prevous page may be necessary. w Release [PTT] to return to receve. IMPORTANT: To maxmze the readablty of your sgnal; 1. Hold the mcrophone 5 to 10 cm from your mouth, then speak nto the mcrophone at a normal voce level. 15 BASIC OPERATION 3 · Vibration function (Depends on the verson) When the matched RX code sgnal s receved, the transcever may vbrate for a specfc tme perod, dependng on the pre-settng. Push any key or [PTT] to stop the vbraton. NOTE: · The transcever cannot stop the vbraton suddenly after pushng any key or [PTT]. · The vbraton sound may be heard at the communcaton party, or be recorded f the recordng functon s actvated when [PTT] s pushed to stop the vbraton. D Receiving note 3 · Transmit inhibit function The transcever has several nhbt functons whch restrct transmsson under the followng condtons: - The channel s n mute condton (`Inaudble' condton; " " does not appear). - Un-matched (or matched) CTCSS s receved. (Dependng on the pre-settng) - The selected channel s a `receve only' channel. · Time-out timer After contnuous transmsson for the pre-programmed tme perod, the tme-out tmer starts, causng the transcever to stop transmttng. · Penalty timer Once the tme-out tmer starts, transmsson s further nhbted for a perod determned by the penalty tmer. 16 D Transmitting notes 3 BASIC OPERATION D TX code channel selection If the transcever has [TX Code CH Select] assgned to t, the ndcaton can be toggled between the operatng channel number (or name) and TX code channel number (or name). Entering the user set mode: q Whle pushng and holdng [ power ON. · Turn power OFF n advance. · "SET MODE" appears for 1 sec. ] and [ ], rotate [VOL] to w Push and hold [P0] for 1 sec. e Push [P0] momentarly to select the approprate tem. Then push [ ]/[ ] to set the desred level/condton. · Avalable set mode functons are Backlight, Beep, SQL Level, Ringer Level, AF Min level, Mic Gain, VOX Gain*, VOX Delay*, Battery Voltage, Signal Moni, Vibration and Lone Worker. r Push and hold [P0] agan to ext set mode. *Appears when the optonal headset s connected. User set mode s also avalable usng a programmable key. 12 [User Set Mode] secton for nstructons regardng usng the key assgned for user set mode. NOTE: [ ], [ ] and [P0] actvate whle n the user set mode regardless of the assgned key functons. 19 BASIC OPERATION 3 Emergency transmission When [Emergency] s pushed and held for the specfic tme perod, an emergency sgnal s automatcally transmtted. When [Emergency] s pushed and held for the specfc tme perod, the DTMF or 5-tone* emergency sgnal s transmtted once or repeatedly on the emergency channel. However, when no emergency channel s specfied, the sgnal s transmtted on the prevously selected channel. If you want to cancel the emergency call, push and hold the key agan before transmttng the call. *Dependng on the operatng model type. 3 Scrambler function The scrambler functon provdes prvate communcaton between statons. q Push [Scrambler] to turn the scrambler functon ON. · " " appears. w Push [Scrambler] agan to turn the scrambler functon OFF. · " " dsappears. Stun function When the specfic ID, set as a kll key, s receved, the stun functon s actvated. When the kll ID s receved, the transcever swtches to the password requred condton.
