DSC UNIT

UX-120

Thank you for purchasing an Icom UX-120 DSC UNIT for the IC-M59.  [. . . ] - Pass the cable through,  then tighten the cable nut. Connect to the DSC unit. 

t Open the switch box and carefully mark off the 2 spots where the screws/bolts will be fastened. y Drill holes at these marks,  if necessary. u Install the switch box using screws or bolts.

i Reassemble the switch box with the 4 screws.

WARNING: Self ID programming is necessary to transmit an emergency call. Attach the supplied WARNING sticker near the transceiver's front panel so that it is clearly visible during operation. DISTRESS CALL PROCEDURE
(using digital selective calling)

e Remove the 4 screws from the switch box as shown below.

r Place the switch box in the location to be installed. 
- The switch box can be installed in 2 orientations as below. 

· To make a distress call q Lift up the switch cover.  [. . . ] e Wait for an acknowledgement from a coast station. 
- When received,  channel 16 is automatically selected. 

r Push and hold [PTT],  then transmit the appropriate information (vessel's name,  your position,  nature of the distress,  assistance required,  etc. ) ·To cancel a distress call Push [16·CLR] to cancel the distress call. 
- You should make an announcement on channel 16 confirming that there is no emergency.
