Using the Standard SATA Cable 36 Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components Connecting a Slimline SATA Drive You can use the SATA-to-Slimline SATA adapter cable to connect a slimline SATA drive to a standard SATA data connector on the Desktop Board. This adapter splits a Slimline SATA connector into a standard SATA data cable and a power connector which plugs into a 4-pin 5 V Molex* power connector from an ATX12V power supply. Observe the precautions in ?Before You Begin?Attach the adapter cable?s standard SATA data connector (Figure 17, A) to one of the SATA data connectors on the Desktop Board and attach the adaptor cable?s Slimline connector to the corresponding connector (Figure 17, B) on the Slimline SATA drive. Connect the adapter cable?s power connector (Figure 17, C) to a 4-pin 5 V Molex power connector from the chassis power supply. Figure 17. Table 6 shows the pin assignments and signal names for Intel HD Audio and Table 7 shows the pin assignments and signal names for AC?97 Audio. Back Panel Audio Connectors NOTE The back panel line out connector is designed to power either headphones or amplified speakers only. Poor audio quality may occur if passive (non-amplified) speakers are connected to this output. 42 Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components Connecting Chassis Fan and Power Supply Cables Connecting a Chassis Fan Cable Connect your chassis fan cable to the 3-pin chassis fan header on the Desktop Board. Location of the Chassis Fan Header 43 Intel Desktop Board DG41AN Product Guide Connecting Power Supply Cables CAUTION Failure to use an appropriate power supply and/or not connecting the 12 V (2 x 2 pin) power connector to the Desktop Board may result in damage to the board or the system may not function properly. The 2 x 12 pin main power connector on the Desktop Board is backwards compatible with ATX12V power supplies with 2 x 10 connectors. Figure 21 shows the location of the Desktop Board power connectors.
