Connecting a Slimline SATA Drive
You can use the SATA-to-Slimline SATA adapter cable to connect a slimline SATA drive to a standard SATA data connector on the Desktop Board. This adapter splits a Slimline SATA connector into a standard SATA data cable and a power connector which plugs into a 4-pin 5 V Molex* power connector from an ATX12V power supply. Observe the precautions in ?Before You Begin?Attach the adapter cable?s standard SATA data connector (Figure 17, A) to one of the SATA data connectors on the Desktop Board and attach the adaptor cable?s Slimline connector to the corresponding connector (Figure 17, B) on the Slimline SATA drive. Connect the adapter cable?s power connector (Figure 17, C) to a 4-pin 5 V Molex power connector from the chassis power supply.

Front Panel Audio Header
The front panel audio header shown in Figure 18, A on page 38 supports both Intel HD Audio and AC?97 Audio. Table 6 shows the pin assignments and signal names for Intel HD Audio and Table 7 shows the pin assignments and signal names for AC?97 Audio. Back Panel Audio Connectors
NOTE
The back panel line out connector is designed to power either headphones or amplified speakers only. Poor audio quality may occur if passive (non-amplified) speakers are connected to this output.

Connecting a Chassis Fan Cable
Connect your chassis fan cable to the 3-pin chassis fan header on the Desktop Board. Figure 20 shows the location of the chassis fan header.

Connecting Power Supply Cables
CAUTION
Failure to use an appropriate power supply and/or not connecting the 12 V (2 x 2 pin) power connector to the Desktop Board may result in damage to the board or the system may not function properly. The 2 x 12 pin main power connector on the Desktop Board is backwards compatible with ATX12V power supplies with 2 x 10 connectors. Figure 21 shows the location of the Desktop Board power connectors.

Setting the BIOS Configuration Jumper
NOTE
Always turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the computer before moving the jumper. Moving the jumper with the power on may result in unreliable computer operation. Figure 22 shows the location of the Desktop Board?s BIOS configuration jumper block.
