[. . . ] It is important to understand that to be truly effective, the conditioning and protection circuitry in a product like Sirius must be built for purpose; there should be an appropriate level of protection for each relevant situation. For a high-quality power conditioner aimed specifically at the high-fidelity audio market, this means voltage, transients, sound quality and, crucially, safety. Many products sold by competing brands appear to offer good specifications, but unfortunately do not address the appropriate real-world problems. For example, it is implied that by having vastly over-specified and over-engineered protection figures you are somehow magically protected against thunderstorms. One must remember that an average lightning strike can easily destroy an entire house. In fact, the biggest danger is the loss of the neutral cable from a multi-phase distribution system (local power grid).
