[. . . ] By pressing REPEAT during Program Playback to display the program table on the TV screen, the program number currently being playback is displayed in yellow. 52 OPERATIONS ON DVD DECK (cont. ) Parental Lock This function restricts playback of DVD VIDEO discs which contain violent (and other) scenes according to the level set by the user. For example, if a movie which includes violent scenes supports the parental lock feature, such scenes which you do not want to let children view can be cut or replaced with other scenes. To set Parental Lock for the first time A Turn on the unit. Press 1. B Select the DVD deck. Turn on the TV and select the video channel (or AV mode). Slide the TV/S-VHS/DVD switch to the right. On the unit Press S-VHS/DVD repeatedly so that the DVD indicator lights up. On the remote control Press DVD so that the DVD indicator lights up. C Access the Parental Lock screen. Press and hold 8, then press OK. D Select the country code. Press w e to select the desired country code, then press OK. See "Country/Area Code List" ( pg. 54). E Select the set level. Press w e to select the desired level, then press OK. "1" is the strictest level. Discs rated higher than the selected level are restricted. You cannot play back the discs rated higher than the selected level. F Enter the password. Press the appropriate number keys to enter 4-digit password, then press OK. If you make a mistake, enter the correct password again. G Return to the normal screen. Press OK. 53 To change the settings You can change the Parental lock settings later. To temporarily release the Parental Lock When you set the parental level strictly, some discs may not be played back at all. When you insert such a disc and try to play back it, the following Parental Lock screen appears on the TV screen, asking you whether you want the Parental Lock to be temporarily released or not. A Access the Parental Lock screen. B Enter the password. Press and hold 8 in stop mode, then press OK. Press the appropriate number keys to enter 4-digit password, then press OK. A Access the password screen. A Place the disc in the disc tray. If the disc rated higher than the selected set level, the following screen appears. The arrow moves to "Country Code" if you enter the correct password. If you enter the wrong password, "WRONG!RETRY. . . " appears on the TV screen. Enter the correct password. C Change the country code. D Change the set level. B Press rt to move the arrow to "YES", then press OK. See "Country/Area Code List" ( pg. When you change the country code, you must select the set level. Press w e to select the country code, then press OK. If you select "NO", you cannot play back that disc. B Enter the password. NOTES: Press the appropriate number keys to enter 4-digit password, then press OK. Press w e to select the desired level, then press OK. E Enter your new password. If you enter the wrong password, "WRONG!RETRY. . . " appears on the TV screen. If you enter the correct password, the Parental lock is released and the unit starts playback. When you enter the wrong password more than 3 times in step B above, the arrow moves to "NO" automatically and rt do not work. In such a case, press OK, then press x to remove the disc. If you forget your password, enter "8888" in step B. The password entered in the this step becomes the new password. If you do not change the password, enter the same password as in the step B. Even if you want to change only the country code and/or set level, do not forget to enter the password after changing the country code and/or set level. Otherwise, the new country code and/or set level will not become effective. Press the appropriate number keys to enter 4-digit password, then press OK. F Return to the normal screen. Press OK. NOTES: When you enter the wrong password more than 3 times in step B above, the arrow moves to "EXIT" automatically and w e does not work.
