(Radio Data System) (Except for some areas) XD-SERIES (En) 39 RDS is a system which transmits useful information (digital data) for FM broadcasts together with the broadcast signal. Tuners and receivers designed for RDS reception can extract the information from the broadcast signal for use with various functions such as automatic display of the station name. This unit is equipped with the following functions utilizing RDS data: Preparation section PTY (Program Type Identification) Search : , The tuner automatically searches for a station which is currently broadcasting a specified program type (genre). The "RDS" indicator lights up when an RDS broadcast (signal) is received. R. D. S EON TP PTY NEWS INFO. PS (Program Service Name) Display : (See below. ) When an RDS broadcast is received, the station name is automatically displayed. 03 F M1 02 5 0 STEREO EON (Enhanced Other Network) : w ÷ Some functions may not be provided or be given different names depending on countries or areas. When the information to be received is set in advance and any RDS station in the same network starts broadcasting of such information, the reception automatically will be switched to that station. Basic section Note before the use of RDS To receive RDS stations, you have to preset RDS stations using the auto preset function. The auto preset function presets the RDS stations in priority. Flashing "NO DATA" will be displayed when no RDS station has been preset with this function. Set the receiving band to FM and preset RDS stations with the auto preset function. To switch the display contents Application section Pressing the RDS DISPLAY key changes the display contents. Display mode priority ranking When an RDS broadcast is received : 1 PS (Program Service Name) Display : When an RDS broadcast is received, the station name is automatically displayed. XD-SERIES (En) Searching for a desired program type (PTY search) By specifying the type of program (genre) you want to listen to, the tuner automatically searches for a station which is currently broadcasting a program of the specified type. Set the reception band to FM. Preset RDS stations with the auto preset function. ª Preparation section 1 Select the PTY search mode. R. D. S PTY PTY NEWs STEREO When an RDS broadcast is received, the program type is shown on the display.
