Check oil BEFORE EACH USE as follows: 1. Make sure the engine is stopped, level, and is cool so the oil has had time to drain into the sump. To keep dirt, grass clippings, etc. , out of the engine, clean the area around the oil fill tube before removing it. Reinsert the dipstick and push it all the way down into the tube. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. Handle new elements carefully; do not use if the sealing surfaces are bent or damaged. With air cleaner disassembled, check the base plate. Make sure it is secured and not bent or damaged. Also check the element cover, seals, and breather tube for damage or improper fit.
