Old Procedure
Throughout the manual,  the instructions state that you must release the stapler head lock to open the stapler head.

New Procedure
The new stapler head has no manual lock. Open the stapler head by simply pulling back on the stapler head and lifting it up.

Close the stapler head by pressing down and engaging the self-locking mechanism.
