When the system boots, it causes a warning message to appear when anything attempts to access the boot sector or hard disk partition table. No warning message will appear when anything attempts to access the boot sector or hard disk partition table. (default) Disabled NOTE: Many disk diagnostic programs which attempt to access the boot sector table can cause the above virus warning. If you are running this type of program, it is recommended that you disable the "Virus Warning" feature beforehand. 3. 11 3 !CONFIGURATION CPU Internal Cache/External Cache Cache memory is additional memory that is much faster than conventional DRAM (system memory). CPU's from the 486-type on up contain internal cache memory and most modern PC's have additional (external) cache memory. When the CPU requests data, the system transfers the requested data from the main DRAM into cache memory, for even faster access by the CPU. These two options allow you to either enable (speed up memory access) or disable the cache function. Default: Enabled CPU L2 Cache ECC Checking This option either enables or disables the ECC (Error Correction Checking) checking of the CPU's L2 cache. Default: Enabled Processor Number Feature When this option is enabled, it allows external systems to detect the processor number and the type of the CPU. Default: Enabled Quick Power-On Self Test (POST) This option speeds up the POST after you power up the system. If it is set to enabled, the BIOS will shorten or skip some of the check items during POST. Default: Enabled First/Second/Third Boot Device When enabled, this option determines which drive to search for first for the operating system such as DOS. Floppy (First) SCSI HDD-2 LS-120/Zip CD-ROM (Third) HDD-3 HDD-0 (Second) HDD-1 LAN 3. 12 3 !CONFIGURATION Boot Other Device This option allows the system to search for an operating system from devices other than the ones selected in the "First/Second/Third Boot Device" option. Default: Enabled Swap Floppy Drive This option either enables or disables the swap floppy drive function. When enabled, the BIOS swaps the floppy drive assignments so that Drive A becomes Drive B, and Drive B becomes Drive A. Default: Disabled Boot Up Floppy Seek When enabled, the BIOS will seek whether or not the floppy drive installed has 40 or 80 tracks. The 360K type has 40 tracks while 760K, 1. 2MB and 1. 44MB types all have 80 tracks. Default: Enabled Boot Up NumLock Status This option allows you to activate the NumLock function after you power up the system. Default: On Gate A20 Option This option determines how gate A20 is handled. [. . . ] Arrange all cables so they are out of the way of traffic, personnel and equipment. Avoid using extension cords with the FieldPAC. If an extension cord is needed, make sure it is rated for at least 10 amperes.
