[. . . ] Electronic speed control The belt speed can be preselected in the range from 140­230 m/min with the adjusting disc (8). The optimum belt speed should be established at the start of sanding with test runs. We cannot make a recommendation, since several factors, such as workpiece surface, workpiece condition, state of the sanding belt, graining, the sanding finish can be influential. Working with the Belt Sander Always follow the grain of the wood to produce a perfect finish on wooden surfaces. No pressing force is necessary; the machine's own weight is perfectly sufficient. For reasons of safety and to achieve optimal results the following should be observed: The machine must be clear of the workpiece before it is started and stopped!Sanding belt recommendations We recommend the following sanding belt grain for different materials: Material Solid wood Coarse sanding Fine sanding Veneer Chipboard Plastics Steel Paint removal Sanding belt grain 40­ 60 80­150 150­220 60­150 80­150 80­150 40­ 60 In case of doubt concerning the best suited sanding belt grain for a given job, always start with the finer grain. this will prevent unintentional excessive removal. Sanding belt changing Prior to sanding belt changing, the belt adjusting knob (3) should be turned counter-clockwise while the machine is running to shift the belt by approximately 2 to 3 mm beyond the rollers in the direction of the open machine side. The sanding belt that is to be newly mounted could scrape against the machine casing. Withdraw the mains plug from the power socket!For sanding belt changing pull the lever (6) out of the casing and turn it clockwise by 180°. The spent belt can be now removed, and a new one mounted. ensure that the direction of the arrow on the inside of the belt matches the arrows on the machine. Turn the lever (6) counter-clockwise back by 180° and allow it to engage. During a trial run the sanding belt is adjusted with the belt adjusting knob (3) in such a manner that its outer edge concludes with the sanding belt support. dust extraction It is very easy to attach the dust collecting bag. Insert the plastic part into the receptacle of the casing and allow the spring catch to engage. press the spring catch to remove the bag.
