TECHNICAL NOTE:WhenoperatingaMacwithadigitaloutput, make certain that the DVI Input mode is set to DIGITAL in DVISELECTIONoftheOSD. PresstheSELECTbutton, thenthe CONTROLbuttonwhentheDVIsignalcableisconnectedtothe DVI-Iconnector(DVI-I)ofthemonitor. TheMacmaynotturnon properlyifthesignalisnotsetonthemonitor.

Explanation Selectsthemethodofvideodetectionwhenmorethanonecomputerisconnected. FIRST ThevideoinputmustbeswitchedtoFIRSTmode. Whentheprimaryvideoinputsignalis lost, themonitorsearchesforasecondarysignalfromthealternatevideoinputport. If avideosignalispresent, themonitorwillautomaticallyswitchtotheactivesource. The monitorwillnotlookforothervideosignalswhiletheprimaryvideosourceispresent. LAST ThevideoinputmustbeswitchedtoLASTmode. Nomatterifavideosourceisplayingin theprimaryvideoport, themonitorwillswitchsignalsifvideoispresentinthealternate, or secondaryport. NONE Themonitorwillnotsearchthealternatevideoinputportunlesstheporthasbeenturned on.

Themonitorwillautomaticallypowerdownafterapresetperiodofuse. Beforepowering off, amessagewillappearonthescreenaskingiftheuserwantstodelaytheshutofftime by60minutes. PressanyOSDbuttontoacceptthedelay. Toadjustthepresetperiodof time, selectON, thenpressSELECTandLEFTorRIGHT. Electronicallycompensatesfortheslightvariationsinthewhiteuniformitylevel, aswellas for deviations in color that may occur throughout the display area of the screen. These variationsarecharacteristicofLCDpaneltechnology. Thisfunctionimprovesthecolorand evensouttheluminanceuniformityofthedisplay. UsingtheUNIFORMITYfeaturereduces theoverallpeakluminanceofthedisplay. Ifgreaterluminanceisdesiredovertheuniform performanceofthedisplay, thenUNIFORMITYshouldbeturnedoff.

OPTION Monitorenterspowersavemodeautomaticallywhentheamountofsurroundinglightgoes belowthelevelthatisdeterminedbytheuser. ThelevelcanbeadjustedinTag7ofthe 4. 9. AdvancedMenuFunctions. WheninPOWERMANAGER, theLEDonthefrontofthe monitorblinksamber. WhileinPOWERMANAGER, pushanyofthefrontbuttons, except forPOWERandSELECT, toreturntonormal. Whentheamountofsurroundinglight returnstostandardlevels, themonitorwillautomaticallyreturntonormalmode.

PleasebeawarethatLCDTechnologymayexperienceaphenomenonknownasImagePersistence. Image persistenceoccurswhenaresidualor"ghost"imageofapreviousimageremainsvisibleonthescreen. UnlikeCRTmonitors, LCDmonitors'imagepersistenceisnotpermanent, butconstantimagesbeingdisplayed foralongperiodoftimeshouldbeavoided. Toalleviateimagepersistence, turnoffthemonitorforaslong asthepreviousimagewasdisplayed. Forexample, ifanimagewasonthemonitorforonehouranda residualimageremains, themonitorshouldbeturnedoffforonehourtoerasetheimage. NOTE:Aswithallpersonaldisplaydevices, LaCierecommendsdisplayingmovingimagesandusingamovingscreensaveratregularintervalswheneverthescreenisidleorturningoffthemonitorwhennotinuse.
