Load one sheet of media. Load the media so it fits flush with the right side of the manual feed slot. Load an envelope with the flap up and to the left. The orientation of the envelope is the same as when the multipurpose feeder is loaded. For an illustration, see page 56.

Loading media
Using the standard bin
The standard bin holds up to 250 sheets of 20 lb paper and is located on top of the printer. The standard bin collates print jobs face-down.
The standard bin supports all media listed in Media sizes and support.
Attaching the standard bin
To attach the standard bin to the top of the printer:

Align it with the opening and slide it down. Press it down into place.

Using the media stop
The standard bin has a media stop which is used to keep media from sliding off the back of the standard bin. It has two lengths, one for shorter media like Letter and A4 sizes, and one for longer media like Legal size. To extend the media stop for short sizes of media:

Grasp the media stop at the first indentation.

Lift it up and then back until it stops at a 90 degree angle.
To close it, fold it back down.

To extend the media stop for longer sizes of media, start with the media stop fully closed:

Grasp the media stop at the second indentation.

Lift it up and back until it is flat at a 180 degree angle.

Lift up and then back on the extension until it stops at a 90 degree angle.
To close the media stop, fold the extension forward and down. Raise the media stop, and then fold it back down into its closed position.
Setting the Paper Type and Paper Size
After setting the Paper Type and Paper Size to the correct values for the type and size used in the trays, then any trays containing the same size and type are automatically linked by the printer. Note: If the size of the media being loaded now is the same size as the media previously loaded, do not change the Paper Size setting. To change the Paper Size and Paper Type setting:

Press to scroll through a list of possible paper sizes to locate the correct size, and then press . The message Submitting Selection appears. The printer returns to the Paper Menu.
