[. . . ] The Black Box Pedal Board includes an expression pedal and two momentary switches. One long cable snake breaks out in to three 1/4" connections. Plug these connectors in to the 1/4" jacks labeled the same way. An expression pedal has a range of travel from one extreme to another, passing many other values in between, like a wah-wah pedal. [. . . ] At the heel position, the effect is 100% dry (no TalkBox effect is heard). When the pedal is at the heel position, you'll still hear a bit of the TalkBox effect, but when you push the pedal to the toe position you'll hear the effect 100% wet. Try the same thing with DELAY VOLUME assigned to the expression pedal. If the knob is rolled back just a bit, you'll always have a bit of the delay in your signal even with the expression pedal at the heel position. However, you'll have 100% delay at the toe position. 4 Black Box Pedal Board Quick Start Guide Assigning Momentary Pedal Settings The two momentary pedals (P1 and P2) can perform the same functions as the keys on the left side of the Black Box (The only key that does not function this way is the UTILITY key). To assign these pedals, simply step on the pedal you wish to assign and press one of the keys on the left side of the Black Box. Examples: While pressing down on the P1 pedal, press the TAP TEMPO key on the unit and release the pedal. The pedal plugged into the P1 jack will now allow you to tap the tempo of the drum machine with your foot. While pressing down on the P2 pedal, press the START key on the unit and release the pedal. The P2 pedal will now allow you to start and stop the drum machine with your foot. While pressing down on the P1 pedal, press the DELAY key on the unit and release the pedal. The P1 pedal will now allow you to turn the Delay effect on/off with your foot. Functions that can be assigned to the P1 and P2 pedals: < Preset Up/Down < Drum Beat Up/Down < Drum Beat Start/Stop < Tap Tempo < Amp On/Off < FX On/Off < Delay On/Off < Tuner On/Off Examples of Useful Pedal Assignments < P1=Start/Stop < P2=FX On/Off < Expression=Delay Volume Try these settings with the LAMOD amp, FX RNFL 8 and Delay Time 4N, Delay Repeats 50 and Delay Volume 65. This allows you to start and stop the drum machine with P1. Try playing verses without the FX, then turning them on with P2 at the chorus of your song. This will bring in a big Random Flanger sound.
