The basic power management settings can be found under the following in Windows operating systems: <Settings> <Power Options>. If you have questions, use the Windows Help function. Here you can set the behavior separately for various battery charge levels. Standby: ­ low energy consumption ­ The display is dimmed and the hard disk remains unchanged. By pressing the on/off button, the notebook returns to the normal operating state. Sleep: ­ without power adapter no energy consumption ­ The current operating state is saved to the hard disk; the notebook is switched off. All open documents or applications become available again when the computer is switched on. Switching off the notebook and disconnecting it from the power supply (pulling the plug of the power adapter) can prevent any energy consumption. UK · Note on PC cards: Never remove a PC card while the system is in save-todisk mode. This can result in a modified system configuration and can lead to problems the next time the notebook is started.
