[. . . ] Remove the memory and processor air duct. Locate the processor sockets (see Figure on page 10). Disconnect and remove any components necessary to access the processor sockets. Push down the lever on the processor socket. While pushing downward, push it away from the socket to release it from the hook. See figure 14. MAXDATA Server PLATINUM 500 I M7 19 Figure 14. Opening the Processor Socket Lever 9. Push the rear tab with your fingertip to bring the front end of the load plate up slightly. If there is a protective covering on the load plate, remove it and store it for later use. Figure 16. Removing Protective Covering from the Load Plate 11. Take the processor out of the box and remove the protective shipping covering. Align the processor with the socket in such a way that both notches match up with the processor socket pins. Gently insert the processor into the socket. Figure 17. Inserting the Processor 0 Hardware Installations and Upgrades 1. Push down on the lever and, while holding it down, push it towards the centre of the processor until it clicks into place under the hook on the processor socket. Figure 18. Attach the heat sink (see next page). Installing the Heat Sink(s) The heat sink has Thermal Interface Material (TIM) located on the bottom of it. Use caution when you unpack the heat sink so you do not damage the TIM. Set the heat sink over the processor, lining up the four captive screws with the four posts surrounding the processor. Loosely screw in the captive screws on the heat sink corners in a diagonal manner. Do no fully tighten one screw before tightening another.
