[. . . ] ^ Select the center touch control to set the water hardness harder (right) or softer (left). ^ Select "OK" to save the selection. ^ Dip the test strip in the water for 1 second and shake off any remaining water. The result is visible in about 1 minute. If the water hardness is greater than 40 gr/gal, the water must be descaled more often than displayed. Calcium will build up faster than at a lower water hardness and may damage the machine. 29 Settings User profiles Up to 10 different user profiles can be entered to accommodate different tastes i. e. different grind amounts, temperature, pre-brewing, portion sizes. Creating a user profile ^ Select "Settings" and then "more" twice. The upper display line shows which user profile is currently set, if different profiles were already created. The "Standard" profile has standard settings. ^ Select the center left or right touch control to select a letter. ^ Repeat the step until the desired name is spelled out. To delete a letter: ^ Select the "Backspace" touch control. To save a name: ^ Select "OK". The display shows more selections: "Change name", "Delete", "Change" Not saving a name: ^ Select the "Clear" touch control. 30 Settings Change name ^ If you would like to change a name, touch "Change name" and then the touch control next to the name to be changed. ^ Type in the name as described in "Creating a user profile" and select "OK". ^ Select "Clear" to go back to the previous screen. Delete To delete the user profile completely ^ Select the "Delete" touch control. ^ Select the touch control next to the name to be deleted. ^ Select "Yes" if you are sure you would like to delete the selected name. The selected name will be deleted from the list. Change The appliance can be set so that it changes back automatically to the standard profile or that the once set user profile is maintained. ^ Select from: Never: The unit keeps the once selected user profile until another user profile is selected. At turning on: Every time the coffee maker is turned on, it selects automatically the standard user profile, regardless which user profile was last selected. [. . . ] Danger of suffocation!
