Programming the coffee grinder
Programming the coffee grinder A good espresso with a thick, even foam depends not only on the quality, pressure and temperature of the water and the quality of the coffee beans, but also on the quantity of beans and how finely they are ground. The foam should have an even color with dark stripes running through it.
Grinding the coffee
To prevent machine damage, the slide control for the coffee grinder setting should be moved carefully and in small adjustments. There are various ways to tell whether the coffee grinder is set correctly: If the espresso flows too quickly into the cup, the coffee has been ground too coarsely and the pressure is not sufficient. The grinder should be adjusted to a finer setting. If the espresso only trickles into the cup, the beans have been ground too fine and the coffee will be bitter. The grinder should be adjusted to a coarser setting. If the foam is evenly colored but pale, this is also a sign that the ground coffee is too coarse. If the foam is very dark brown on one side, graduating almost to white on the other, it suggests that the ground coffee is too fine.

Programming the coffee grinder
To adjust the grinder setting push the upper slide control to the left (for finer grinding) or to the right (for coarser grinding). You should be able to feel the notches clearly when moving the slide control.
If the slide control will not move, close the machine and dispense a cup of coffee. Then try to move the slide control again.
Setting the quantity
Both the flavor and the foam on the coffee depend on the quantity of ground coffee used. 6 to 9 g of coffee beans are used per cup, depending on the type of coffee. The greater the quantity, the stronger the flavor will be. The quality of the foam is also affected by the quantity: If the foam is evenly colored but pale not enough coffee is being used. If the foam is very dark brown on one side, graduating almost to white on the other, too much coffee is being used. To adjust the amount of coffee to be ground, push the lower slide control to the left (to grind less coffee) or to the right (to grind more coffee).

Cleaning and care
Cleaning and care Danger - always allow the machine to cool before cleaning. Do not clean the appliance with a steam cleaner. Steam could penetrate electrical components and cause a short circuit. Never use a detergent containing sand, soda, acid or chlorine as these will damage the surface. [. . . ] Espresso doppio is a double portion of normal espresso. Espresso lungo is the longer, less concentrated version served in a standard coffee cup.
Glossary
Espresso ristretto is a double strength, bitter tasting espresso. Grinding - the success of the espresso depends on how coarse or fine the coffee beans are ground. If the grinds are too coarse, the water flows through too quickly and does not create sufficient pressure to release the aroma. [. . . ]
