Children · Children do not understand the dangers associated with operating electrical appliances. Never allow children to use this appliance. Personal safety · Always pour hot water slowly and carefully without tipping the kettle too fast to prevent splashing and spillage. [. . . ] The `power on' neon, will light up. 5 When the water boils the kettle will switch off automatically. · Depending on the model variant you have purchased, the kettle will illuminate and/or 'whistle' to indicate it has boiled. · If you are using the kettle for the first time, pour away the boiled water and refill. 6 Lift the kettle from the base unit by the handle ensuring you hold the kettle level. · To re-boil, switch to ON again. If the kettle has just switched off wait a minute or so before switching it back on again. · If you do not put in enough water, or switch on the kettle when it is empty, the safety cut-out will switch off the power automatically. If this happens, refill and wait a few minutes for the element to cool, then use as normal. Keep warm function 1 Fill the kettle and switch on as normal. The orange neon will illuminate inside the kettle. 2 Press the keep warm switch , , to the on position I. The keep warm feature will then keep the water in the kettle at near to boiling point. The green neon will illuminate inside the kettle. The kettle will reboil in a few seconds. · Please note: the keep warm function can be activated at any time in the boil cycle. · Switch off the keep warm function when the kettle is empty. Filter removal 1 Open the lid. 2 Lift the filter upwards from its location using the tab provided. 3 To refit the filter, slot it into the side wall guides and press down firmly. Ensure the filter is correctly located into the guide. WARNING: If the filter is fitted incorrectly, the auto switch off function may be affected. Whistle feature · There is a switch , on the cordless base of the product that can switch the whistle on and off as desired. 4 KT43666 Rev 2 12/4/05 1:16 PM Page 5 Descaling IMPORTANT: As this kettle is fitted with a concealed element it must be descaled regularly. The frequency of descaling depends on usage and the hardness of the water in your area. Excessive scale can cause the kettle to switch off before boiling and may damage the element invalidating the warranty.
