There are 3 different power settings: 1. Use Power Save Mode to save battery life when talking over shorter distances. When you first turn on the unit, Power Save is selected. Use Power Boost Mode to achieve maximum talk range.

There are 14 main channels. Press + and - keys to select the main channel.

select sub channel
Each main channel has 38 sub channels, sometimes called CTCSS channels. Select one of these sub channels to transmit on a channel that is free from traffic. Press MODE until SUB CHAN is displayed 2. Press + and - keys to select the sub channel.
Note :If you select channel "0, " you will be able to receive transmissions from all the sub channels of the main channel you selected.

scan channels
The channel scan feature allows you to scan all channels for broadcast traffic. You can also scan the sub channels of a channel in order to identify the specific sub channel of the broadcast traffic. Press + or - keys to begin scanning the main channels. The unit will scan all main channels and stop on a channel where broadcast traffic is detected. Once traffic is found, you have 10 seconds to do one of the following: ¥ Press TALK to begin broadcasting on that channel. ¥ Press + or - keys to continue scanning other main channels. ¥ Proceed to sub channel scan to identify the specific sub channel of the broadcast.

The sub channel scan feature allows you to identify the exact sub channel of a broadcast on one main channel. Select a main channel to scan, either by scanning main channels for broadcast activity (see above) or manually selecting a channel. Press + or - keys to begin scanning the sub channels. *The unit will scan the sub channels of the selected channel. It will stop where broadcast traffic is detected. Once traffic is found, you have 10 seconds to do one of the following: ¥ Press TALK to begin broadcasting on that channel. ¥ Press + and - keys to continue scanning other sub channels.

confirmation tone
button confirmation tone and "roger beep" on/off
When this feature is activated, two things will happen: ¥ a tone will sound at the press of any button, confirming that you have pressed it. ¥ a tone will sound whenever you release the TALK button that is audible to anyone else on your same channel and sub channel. It's is an easy way to signal that you are done transmitting, and helps to avoid "talking over" someone else. To activate the confirmation tone and "roger beep": 1. Press MODE until the [insert bell icon] is displayed 2. [. . . ] Broadcast range depends on the environment. This warranty also does not apply to any product with an altered or defaced serial number.
