Match white balance to your light source. Take pictures one at a time or in a sequence. Use the Best Shot Selector (BSS) to select the sharpest picture. Take a sequence of pictures with gradually changing exposure or white balance.

Select ISO Sensitivity. Select an image size for displaying or printing. Maintains aperture as close as possible to a set f/-number when the camera is zoomed in and out. Reduce noise that may appear when long exposures are used.

The camera's built-in light metering system calculates the brightness of the subject to determine the best exposure to use.

(default setting) Analyzes the distribution of brightness over a wide area of the frame, producing optimal results for most situations. Meters the entire frame but assigns the greatest weight to the
n Center-weighted center area. Use with AF lock (P. 87) to
meter off-center subjects. Measures light in an area shown by a square in the center of the monitor. The subject in the metering target area will be correctly exposed even when the background is much brighter or darker. Use with AF lock (P. 87) to meter off-center subjects. Links spot metering to the active focus area when AF area mode is set to Auto or Manual (P. 86).

Takes one picture each time the shutter-release button is fully pressed. While the shutter-release button is pressed, pictures can be taken continuously. The first five shots are taken at up to 1. 8 frames per second (fps). Each time the shutter-release button is fully pressed, the camera takes 16 shots at approximately 1. 7 fps. The camera arranges pictures in four rows to form a single picture measuring c 3264×2448 pixels. While the shutter-release button is pressed, the camera takes up to 100 pictures of i 640×480 pixels at up to 30 fps.
