[. . . ] As soon as the item is scanned, your fax software starts and the item is ready to send. This chapter shows how to start ScanDirect, explains its features, and uses an example that describes how to use the ScanDirect Control Panel. STARTING SCANDIRECT The ScanDirect application is installed with your PaperPort software and is available from the Windows Start button. Choose Programs, and then choose PaperPort. 3. Choose ScanDirect. 41 s ble nt Ta onte C of 42 CHAPTER 6: USING SCANDIRECT The ScanDirect icon appears on the taskbar. 4. Click the ScanDirect icon to open the Control Panel. A ScanDirect shortcut also appears on your Windows desktop. You can double-click the shortcut to start ScanDirect. w NOTE: If another open window hides the ScanDirect Control Panel, click the ScanDirect icon on the taskbar to bring the Control Panel to the front. To close or minimize ScanDirect: 1. Click the icon in the title bar to see the drop-down menu. 2. Choose Minimize to minimize the Control Panel. 3. Scan to PaperPort Desktop Scan Single Page Scan Multiple Pages ScanDirect Icons Help Button Scroll Arrows About ScanDirect Scan Single Page--Click to scan a single page and send it to the selected application. Scan Multiple Pages--Click to scan several pages and send them to the selected application. Scroll Arrows--Click to see other icons on the ScanDirect Control Panel. ScanDirect Icons--Click to select which application the scanned items are sent to when scanned. Notice that the first icon is for PaperPort. Clicking this icon sends the item to PaperPort. Help Button--Click to see the ScanDirect help. About ScanDirect--Click to see copyright information about the application. w NOTE: You can switch positions of icons on the ScanDirect Control Panel. To rearrange the icons, hold down the Alt key, and then click the icon you want to move. Hold the mouse button and drag the icon to the spot where you want it. The icon appears at the new position. s ble nt Ta onte C of 44 CHAPTER 6: USING SCANDIRECT USING SCANDIRECT: AN EXAMPLE The basic process to use ScanDirect is the same for each application icon on the ScanDirect Control Panel. This example shows how to use ScanDirect to scan a a two-page item and send it as a fax. Click the fax icon on the Control Panel. 2. Click the button you want for scanning a single page or multiple pages. [. . . ] To close a folder, click the minus sign or doubleclick the folder. s ble nt Ta onte C of 82 CHAPTER 10: FILING ITEMS IN FOLDERS USING SIMPLESEARCH TO FIND AN ITEM PaperPort's SimpleSearch features help you find items scanned and stored in folders. For example, if you recall the item's title or keywords, PaperPort can find the item based on them. However, PaperPort also reads the entire text content of each scanned item and can find items based on any words and phrases in the content. To use this powerful search feature, make sure that the Content checkbox is selected on the Find Item dialog box. [. . . ]
