Use only an amplifier that supports this impedance. · Be sure to connect the speaker wires with the correct polarity. Connect the speaker's positive (+) binding post to your amplifier's positive (+) terminal, and the negative (­) binding post to its negative (­) terminal. If the polarity is incorrect, bass output will be greatly reduced and the sound will be unclear. In addition, be sure to connect the left and right speakers to the corresponding left and right terminals on your amplifier. · Make sure that the positive (+) and negative (­) speaker wires are not touching each other. Shorting speaker wires may seriously damage your amplifier. · As you make each connection, lightly tug each speaker wire to make sure that it's connected securely. When deciding where to place the speakers, read the following: · If possible, mount the speakers on speaker stands, concrete blocks, bricks, or a sturdy bookshelf. Putting them directly on the floor will emphasize bass sounds, resulting in a boomy sound. · If a speaker is placed on an uneven surface, it may wobble or vibrate and adversely affect bass performance. You can eliminate speaker wobble by putting a cork spacer or metal, such as a coin, underneath the speaker or stand, as shown. · If you place the speakers on a flat surface, such as a bookshelf, you can improve the sound quality by inserting cork spacers or metal, such as a coin, underneath each speaker. Raising the speaker off the flat surface a little will reduce the contact area and improve the sound quality. Cork spacer or coin Attaching the Included Protective Cover If you plan not to use the speaker for a long period of time, attach the included protective cover to protect the speaker from dust, scratches, or sun damage. To attach the cover, first make sure the front and rear of the cover are properly oriented. To remove the cover, slowly raise the cover so that it will not be caught by the speaker surface.
