Operating the answering system
You can also operate the answering system by pressing dial keys on the handset. To use the following commands: {MENU} i {V}/{^}: "Answering device" i {SELECT} Key Pushing the joystick up or down. {1} or push the joystick left {2} or push the joystick right {3} {4} {5} {9} or {STOP} {0} {*}{4} or {ERASE} {*}{5} {#}{1}{8} Operation Adjust the receiver/ speaker volume (during playback) Repeat message (during playback)*1 Skip message (during playback) Enter the "Settings" menu Play new messages Play all messages Stop playback Turn answering system off Erase message currently playing Erase all messages Turn answering system on for IP line only Turn answering system on for landline only

Answering System
Remote operation
Using a touch tone phone, you can call your phone number from outside and access the unit to listen to messages. The unit's voice guidance prompts you to press certain dial keys to perform different operations. Important: L In order to operate the answering system remotely, you must first set a remote code (page 63). This code must be entered each time you operate the answering system remotely. L To call the unit via the IP line from a landline phone or cellular phone, you need an additional phone number you subscribed at www. joip. com other than the A number (page 4).
Voice guidance
When the English voice guidance is selected During remote operation, the unit's voice guidance starts and prompts you to press {1} to perform a specific operation, or press {2} to listen to more available operations. l If you subscribe to Voice Mail service, please see the following notes. For the service details, visit www. joip. com or contact the A service provider. Note for k and l: L To use the Voice Mail service provided by your landline service provider/A rather than the unit's answering system, turn off the answering system (page 57). L To use this unit's answering system rather than the Voice Mail service, please contact your landline service provider/A service provider to deactivate your Voice Mail service. If your service provider cannot do this: Set this unit's "Ring count" setting so that this unit's answering system answers calls before the Voice Mail service does. It is necessary to check the ring count required to activate the Voice Mail service before changing this setting. Change the ring count of the Voice Mail service so that the answering system can answer the call first. To do so, consult your landline service provider/A service provider.
