Before installing a RAM module, confirm the product type and the correct installation method. CAUTION RAM modules are extremely sensitive to static electricity. There are cases where static electricity generated by the human body has adversely affected such RAM modules. When inserting or removing a RAM module, do not touch the terminals or internal components, insert objects other than the module, or allow foreign particles to enter. Doing so has been known to cause damage, fire or electric shock. Inserting / Removing the RAM Module Removing Getting Started 1 Power off your computer. ( page 25) Do not shut down using the standby or hibernation function. Disconnect the AC adaptor. 2 Turn the computer over, remove the battery pack and the screw (A), then hold up the cover (B) and pull it out. There is one screw on the cover. Do not confuse this with the cover with two screws. Use the proper size screw driver to insure that the screw does not get stripped. 3 Remove RAM module. A Gently open the left and right hooks (C). The RAM module will be raised at an angle. B Gently remove the RAM module from the slot. 28 4 Put the cover back in place. A Insert the cover at an angle, then fit it into place. B Fasten the screw. Inserting After making the settings in step 1 to 2 of " Removing", insert the RAM module as follows. Hold the RAM module in the direction that the notch (F) of the RAM module suits to the protrusion (E) of the slot. B Place the RAM module lightly in parallel with a slot. (The gold terminals (G) are visible) C Insert the module parallel to the slot and press firmly until the gold terminals are no longer visible. If the RAM module is difficult to insert, do not force it. Check once more to ensure that the module is positioned correctly. The slot may be damaged if the following procedure is performed without inserting the module firmly. D Press the RAM module down until the right and left hooks (H) lock into place. When pressing down the module, the right and left hooks will open slightly and will return after locking. If the RAM module is difficult to press down, do not force it.
