Taking measurements while sitting down Align the device with the level of your heart. Hold the cuff with your thumb as shown in the diagram and then fold back the hook and loop fastener and secure it. (2) Firmly wrap and fasten using the hoop and loop fastener. A loosely applied pressure cuff will result in high blood readings. Pull up on the fastener, without twisting it, to remove the unit from your wrist. do not remove the hook and loop fastener by twisting it off. Be sure to peel it in an upward direction in alignment with the cuff. When sitting down to take your blood pressure, place the hand with the device over the other hand, which should be clenched slightly as shown above. Be careful not to touch cuff during measurement. Measuring your blood pressure Relax your hand and allow the wrist to droop slightly as shown below. Do not take measurements in the positions shown below as they will be inaccurate. As measurements are being taken during pressurization, the frequency of the "beep" indicating pulse rate and the rate of pressurization may change. Place the slightly clenched fist of your other hand under the arm to which the device is attached. The heart mark will begin to flash (with sound) during pressurization when the pulse is detected. When measurements have been completed, the device beeps and blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed. â· Pressure will automatically be released from the pressure cuff. â· If your blood pressure is considered to be in the hypertensive range, then the readings on the display will flash for approx.
