Check the remote access code of the answering machine and program the same code into the remote operation ID of the fax machine. Note: q Every time the fax machine receives a document, a silent pause or fax tone may be recorded on the answering machine. Receiving a voice message and fax document in one call The caller can leave a voice message and send a fax document during the same call. Inform the caller of the following procedure beforehand: 1. q The answering machine will answer the call. The caller can leave a message after the greeting message. The caller presses *#9 (pre-selected fax activation code). q The fax machine will activate the fax function. The caller presses the start button to send a document. Note: q The fax activation code can be changed in feature #41 (p. 64). Extension telephone! If you use the fax machine with an extension telephone, you can receive fax documents using the extension telephone. You do not have to press i on the fax machine. Important: q Use a touch tone telephone as the extension telephone and enter the fax activation code firmly. 1 2 3 q You When the extension telephone rings, lift the handset of the extension telephone. When: -- document reception is required, -- a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or -- no sound is heard, press *#9 (pre-selected fax activation code) firmly. The unit can make single or multiple copies (up to 99). Using the auto document feeder q Confirm that there are no documents on the scanner glass.
