Important: L You should include the information to press {1} to accept the call other than distress request and your name and address. Example: This is distress call from Mary Smith. Recording the distress message L When the distress call feature is turned on, speed dial key {III} lights up on all registered handsets and base unit. Handset Press and hold speed dial key {III}. L If the base unit is stored to the distress list, the base unit pages all handsets. Note for handset and base unit: L Speed dial key {III} flashes rapidly and your pre-recorded distress message is played back repeatedly from your speaker. L The unit dials out the distress number list in order (from 1st to 4th number). L After the other party accepts the call by pressing {1}, you can start to talk with the other party. *2 This feature allows the unit to automatically adjust the date and time each time caller information including date and time is received. To turn this feature on, select "Caller ID". To turn this feature off, select "Manual". (Caller ID subscribers only) To use this feature, set the date and time first (page 16). *3 When the ringer volume is turned off, ~ is displayed and the handset does not ring for outside calls. However even when the ringer volume is set to off, the handset still rings for alarm (page 33), intercom calls (page 46), and paging (page 46). *4 If you select one of the melody ringer tones, the ringer tone continues to play for several seconds even if the caller has already hung up. [. . . ] Cause/solution L Disconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord from the base unit. Remove the batteries from the handset and leave to dry for at least 3 days. After the handset/base unit are completely dry, reconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord. Insert the batteries and charge fully before use. [. . . ]
