Check the program carefully before erasing it to ensure it isn't one you want to keep. Checking program contents (Properties) RAM DVD-R You can check the contents of a selected program. (1) Press [SEARCH]. (2) Use [ , ] to select the desired program. (4) Use [ , ] to select "Erase" and press [ENTER]. (5) Use [ ] to select "Erase". After performing steps (1) to (3) of "Erasing programs", perform the following steps: (4) Use [ , ] to select "Properties" and press [ENTER]. · The contents of the program are shown. To return to the previous screen Press [RETURN]. Protecting programs/Releasing program protection (Protection) (6) Press [ENTER]. RAM You can prevent accidental erasure of programs by write-protecting them. To stop partway through Select "Cancel" in step (5) and press [ENTER] or [RETURN]. Entering and editing program titles (Enter Title) RAM DVD-R After performing steps (1) to (3) of "Erasing programs", perform the following steps: (4) Use [ , ] to select "Enter Title" and press [ENTER]. (5) Enter or edit the title. The padlock mark appears. The padlock mark disappears. To stop partway through Select "No" in step 5 and press [ENTER] or [RETURN]. For your reference: · You can give DVD-RAM titles of up to 64 characters · The 33rd letter or later on some finalized DVD-R may not be displayed due to the font size of titles. · You can give DVD-R titles of up to 44 characters. · The full title is shown in the "Properties" screen, but if you enter a long title, only part of it is shown in the program list. ­ 26 ­ Using the SEARCH PROGRAM (continued) Erasing parts of a program (Partial Erase) RAM The specified parts of the program are erased completely when you use this procedure and cannot be retrieved. Check the program carefully to ensure it isn't one you want to keep. · The unit pauses play when the end of the program is reached during this procedure. · The disc's available recording time may not increase after erasing short parts of programs. · You cannot use the [STOP ] button while finding start and end points. Dividing programs (Divide) RAM You can divide a selected program into two. You must be sure you wish to divide a program because once a program has been divided it cannot be returned to its original form. After performing steps (1) to (3) of "Erasing programs", perform the following steps: (4) Use [ , ] to select "Partial Erase" and press [ENTER]. (5) Use search functions such as fast-forward and slow-motion to find the start point of the part you want to erase and press [ENTER]. After performing steps (1) to (3) of "Erasing programs", perform the following steps: (4) Use [ , ] to select "Divide" and press [ENTER]. [. . . ] Available recording time appears longer or shorter than it actually is. The available recording time doesn't increase even after erasing all recordings on the disc.
