Thank you for purchasing this vacuum cleaner. Please read these instructions carefully before using the vacuum cleaner and save these instruction for future reference. This product complies with the directive 2006/95/EC and 2004/108/EC.

[. . . ] The valve opens to provide cooling air when a clog or full dust bin prevents normal air flow to the vacuum cleaner suction motor. You will notice a change of sound as air rushes through the valve opening. To correct problem empty dust bin (see EMPTYING DUST BIN, page 14) or locate and remove the clog (see CLOG REMOVAL, 19). NOTE: The bypass valve may open when cleaning new carpet due to reduced airflow caused by the new carpet lint filling the dust bin quickly. Check for and remove clogs, if necessary (see CLOG REMOVAL, page 19). Also check and clean/replace any clogged filters and empty dust bin, if necessary. Wait approximately fifty (50) minutes and then plug the vacuum cleaner in and turn back on to see if the motor protector has reset.

MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
Always follow all safety precautions when cleaning and servicing the vacuum cleaner.

A) EMPTYING DUST BIN

Be sure to hold the dust bin over a proper trash container prior to releasing the door of the dust bin.

Always empty the dust bin when dirt level reaches the “MAX” line. Grasp the handle on the top of the dust bin. Press the dust bin release button

Lift up and out to remove dust bin from vacuum cleaner.
Press dust bin door latch and the dust bin door will open. Remove any clogs that might be located in the pre-filter (See PRE-FILTER CLEANING, page 15).

After the dust bin is empty of debris, firmly close the door. Make sure you hear a “click” sound to indicate that the door is fully latched.
Place dust bin back into vacuum cleaner by inserting the bottom first and tilting back. Push forward until the dust bin locks in place.

Make sure the dust bin is empty. Grasp the dust bin handle and rotate upper portion of dust bin to unlock (as indicated on the lid), and lift off.
Grasp pre-filter and rotate counterclockwise to remove. Clean pre-filter by gently tapping over a trash container. Rinse with water only as needed, do not use any detergent or soap. Allow pre-filter to dry for 24 hours before placing back into vacuum cleaner.
To Reinstall: Align the slot on the pre-filter with the alignment tab inside dust bin.

Rotate pre-filter clockwise to lock in place.
Reinstall upper portion of dust bin and turn to locked position (as indicated on the lid).

C) PRIMARY FILTER CLEANING
It is recommended to clean the primary filter with cold water at least every three (3) months. Check the primary filter frequently and clean when dirty. Refer to VACUUM CLEANER CONSUMABLES/ACCESSORIES (page 24) for part number. NOTE: When the cleaning of the filter no longer restores vacuum cleaner suction to full power, replace the filter.
