The unit turns off when you put it in the stand and you can not operate it. Panasonic batteries can be recharged even if they have not been drained completely. How the lamps light depends on the charge left. You can recharge the included rechargeable battery about 300 times. Replace when play time shortens noticeably after recharging. Keep the unit and charger terminals free from dust and grime. 4
