P. A. [. . . ] The DLC9000 automatic volume controller uses a microphone, supplied separately, to detect the environmental noise. The output of the controller is connected between the pre-amplifier and the power amplifier of the zone in question. The noise measuring device is extremely easy to configure and the various programming stages are easily called up on the menu provided on the 16-digit backlit display by means of only three push-buttons (Up/Down and Selection). Calibration" functions · Definable sampling of the measuring microphone signal · Possibility of activating the "Precedence" or "Vox" function for blocking attenuation of emergency calls · Possibility of listening to the signals coming from the room microphone through a loudspeaker installed inside the unit. The DLC9000 has many innovative functions that make it easier to use in all sorts of system solutions: · Night/Day: Enabling the unit to function with two completely different configurations, each gauged for specific noise conditions. Switching between Night and Day is achieved by means of a control with an external contact. · Bypass (compatibility with sending of alarm and evacuation messages). In this mode, in case of failure both of the mains power supply and the 24 VDC power supply, the unit becomes transparent, allowing the input signals to pass through it. Activation of the by-pass function also enables evacuation messages to be sent out at the maximum power, regardless of the ambient noise. This function enables sampling of the ambient noise to be stopped while broadcasting messages. The device enables automatic detection and storage of the maximum and minimum noise levels, even for an unlimited period of time. This function simplifies the operations for calibrating the noise measuring device, since the presence of the operator is not required. Adjustable integration of background noise. Definition of the excursion range of the output signal · Monitoring. The unit has an internal monitoring loudspeaker enabling the sound and noise coming from the microphone to be monitored. The output level of the monitoring loudspeaker can be set or it can be excluded electronically via the menu. In the "user" mode, only some set-up menus are available to the user. These do not enable the critical parameters of the system to be altered. In the "service" mode, all the set-up functions and modes are available for programming by specialised personnel. [. . . ] The medium-to low range is reproduced by a folded horn fed by a cone-type TR20-HF/TR40-HF loudspeaker (mid-woofer), while reproduction of the higher range is made by to a compression unit (tweeter) coupled to a constant-directivity horn (TR40-HF) or to a dome-type unit (TR20HF). A crossover filter separates the frequencies sent to the two loudspeakers.
