Automatic Tracking Adjustment The TV/VCR/DVD automatically adjusts the videotape tracking to give you the best possible picture quality. With some recordings, however, you may get a better picture using the manual tracking controls (see below). Manual Tracking To adjust the tracking manually, press CHANNEL o/p on the front of the TV/VCR/DVD or CH. o/p on the remote control during playback. Tracking returns to Automatic Tracking Adjustment when you insert a tape or press STOP C. Not all TV programs and commercials have closed captions or all types of closed captions (second language, half-screen text, etc. ). If closed captioning is not broadcast, you cannot receive it. This does not indicate a problem with the TV/VCR/DVD. Check your TV program listings for shows with closed captions. If the TV/VCR/DVD receives poor quality television signals, the captions may contain errors, or there might be no captions at all. Some possible causes of poor quality signals are: Automobile ignition noise Electric motor noise Weak signal reception Multiplex signal reception (ghosts or screen flutter) Playing poorly recorded or worn videotapes. This is not a problem with the TV/VCR/DVD. · Changing channels may delay closed captions for a few seconds. · Adjusting or muting the volume may delay closed captions for a few seconds. 3 Press SETUP to exit the menu. V-CHIP reads the ratings for programming (except for news and sports programs, unedited movies on premium cable channels, and Emergency Broadcast System signals), then denies access to programming if the program's rating meets the limitations you select. In this case, a "PROTECTED PROGRAM by . . . " message appears on the TV screen. If the "PROTECTED. . . " message appears during your TV viewing, change to a channel that is not blocked. Then, you can access the V-Chip Setup menu and change the settings to allow all TV viewing.
