Closed Captioning will not work
when viewing a 480P, 720P, or 1080i input via the Component YPbPr inputs.
Captions options and their functions when selected: "Display" "Off" "On" "Mute" "Off" turns Closed Captioning off. "On" turns Closed Captioning on. "Mute" turns the Closed Captioning when you press the MUTE button on the remote control. "Mode" "C. C. " displays Closed Captioning for the program you are viewing. "Text" displays additional information such as news reports or a TV program guide. This information covers the entire screen and viewing the TV program is not possible. Text may not be available with every program that features Closed Captioning. "Channel" "1" is used for the primary language (usually English). "2" is used for a second language (may vary by region). 18

With the FEATURES menu on the screen, Press the CURSOR DOWN button repeatedly until Menu Background is highlighted. Then press the CURSOR RIGHT button to enter the Menu Background options area. Press the CURSOR DOWN or UP button to highlight Gray or Shaded. Then press the OK button to select the option. "Gray" displays gray background and does not allow a picture to be seen behind the menu screen. "Shaded" displays a light background. To return to the FEATURES menu, press the CURSOR LEFT button. To go to the Menu Bar, press the MENU/SELECT button. To clear the screen, press the STATUS/EXIT button.

With the PICTURE menu on the screen, press the CURSOR DOWN button until the control you want to adjust is highlighted. Press the CURSOR LEFT or RIGHT button to adjust the control. The following are descriptions of the PICTURE menu controls: "Picture" changes the contrast between black and white levels in the picture. This adjustment will affect the picture only when Advanced Settings/Image Max is off (see the next page).
