Fill the water tank with water and put the jug in place. The level indications on the left apply to large cups (120 ml). The level indications on the right apply to small cups (80 ml). For large cups: use one full measuring spoon for each cup. For small cups: use one level measuring spoon for each cup. Select the strength and the amount of coffee you want to brew: The yellow pilot light will go on. A few seconds after you have finished setting the timer, the digits will stop blinking and the normal time will reappear. You can always check whether you have set the timer correctly by pressing the `AUTO' button. The yellow pilot light goes on and the appliance will start brewing coffee at the preset time. The next time you want the coffee maker to switch on automatically at the preset time, press the `AUTO' button. Note that after a power cut of more than one minute, you will have to set the clock and the timer again. The display will alternately show the normal time and the time that has elapsed since the brewing cycle has started (preceded by the letter F). If you have not switched the appliance off, the appliance will automatically switch itself off after two hours. 2 Remove the paper filter and throw it away. [. . . ] 3 Let the appliance complete two more runs with fresh, cold water to remove any vinegar and scale residues. Cord - If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged it may only be replaced by a cord of the original type. Turn to your Philips dealer or the Philips organisation in your country for replacement.
