The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by Philips Electronics Ltd as this may cause hazards. [. . . ] It is recommended to use this product on a circuit that is protected by a circuit breaker or safety switch. Please save these instructions and refer to them when using the toaster. If you lend out the toaster to anyone, ensure that you will also pass on the instructions for use. This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm people, without supervision of an adult. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord may be used with care; however, be sure that the marked electrical rating is equal to or greater than the rating of this appliance. The extension cord should be positioned in such way, that it does not drape over the counter or tabletop where it can be pulled by children or that it can be tripped over. The electrical rating of this appliance is listed on the bottom panel of the unit. Do not operate this high-wattage appliance on the same electrical circuit as another high-wattage appliance. These toasters are equipped with safety and convenience features to give you optimum performance, year after year. Features include: - Cool wall, high gloss exterior finish - Electronic - 0 (OFF) position on the dial, cancels toasting immediately - y (Defrost) position on the dial, toasts frozen bread - Wide slots, for toasting extra thick bread and muffins - Crumbtray, conveniently slides out for easy cleaning - Extra lift lever, allows toast to be elevated to allow easy removal - Cord winder, is located underneath the toaster Before using your toaster for the first time, unpack and remove labels from the body of the toaster. Wipe the outside of your toaster with a damp cloth. Most heating appliances produce an unpleasant smell and / or smoke when used for the first time. Press down on the toast lever until it engages. Toast lever will not engage unless unit is plugged in. The unpleasant smell should disappear after this initial preheating. Plug the toaster into a 110/120V-power outlet and turn the power on. The toaster will only latch down when the cord is plugged in and the power turned on. For frozen bread, set the toasting setting to (y) defrost setting before engaging the Toast lever. Warning:Toasting performance will vary with the type of bread, especially bread that contains higher sugar contents, e. For these kinds of bread the toasting setting must be reduced. [. . . ] - Never place an object on top of the toaster when in use, this will cause damage to the toaster. After use and before cleaning, set toast setting dial to (0) OFF.
