Care must be taken to prevent burns which can occur from touching hot parts or spilling hot liquids. To protect against fire, electrical shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plug, or appliance in water or other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. [. . . ] If it does not close completely, check to see that the filter basket is properly seated, and snap the door into place. Fill the glass carafe with cold water up to the marked level for the desired amount of coffee. For 12 cups, fill the carafe with water to the bottom of the spout. IMPORTANT: Use cold water only - the automatic brewing system works best with cold water. Empty the cold water from the carafe into the water reservoir. CAUTION: Carafe lid must be in place on carafe while brewing. The "ON" light will now glow, indicating that your Coffee Maker has begun the brewing cycle. Hot water will be dispersed gently and evenly through the coffee grounds. When all the water has been pumped out of the reservoir, the heater will switch off automatically and provide a "keep warm" mode for holding the coffee at the proper serving temperature for the next 2 hours. If you wish to use the timer to preset the Coffee Maker, see the section on "Using the Timer". If you have made coffee and wish to make some more immediately, allow the appliance to cool down for about 3 minutes. You may then fill the water reservoir again. note: This Coffee Maker features an automatic switch-on at a preset time. In order for this feature to operate correctly, the time of day and the automatic switch-on time must be set and the AUTO mode must be selected. Power Select button (I/O) - Select from three power modes: Auto/On/Off. Press the power select button once and the "AUTO" light comes on. Press the power select button again and the "ON" light comes on. Hour button (H) - This button advances the hour display of the clock and timer. As an added convenience, your Coffee Maker has been designed with an auto shut-off feature. Two hours after the brewing cycle is complete, the Coffee Maker will automatically shut itself off. Your Coffee Maker was designed with an auto-pause drip stop feature. If you wish, at any time during the brewing cycle, you may temporarily remove the glass carafe from the unit and pour a cup of hot coffee.
