[. . . ] The SBC RU 230 is ready for use with Philips TV and VCR equipment. To operate equipment from other brands, you have to set up the SBC RU 230 by following 3 easy steps. If the brand of your equipment is known, follow the procedure described in chapter: SETTING UP BY CODE ENTRY If the brand of your equipment is unknown or not in the code list, you can have the SBC RU 230 do an automatic code search for your equipment. [. . . ] Enter the 3-digit code for your brand with the numerical keys. The indicator LED blinks twice to indicate successful set-up. Press buttons on the SBC RU 230 to check that the code works on your equipment. If it does, write down this code inside the SBC RU 230's battery lid. If the equipment does not respond correctly, try the next code from the code list until the equipment works properly. If none of the listed codes work, go to Chapter SETTING UP BY AUTOSEARCH Repeat steps 1 to 3 for every piece of equipment you want to operate. SETTING UP BY AUTOSEARCH Before you start, make sure the equipment is ready to receive infra-red signals. The equipment must be switched on, there should be no obstacles between you and the equipment, and you should be right in front of the equipment. Every time the LED lights, another code is tested. When the right code for your device is found, the equipment (TV) switches off, or the VCR stops playing. The indicator LED blinks twice to indicate successful set-up. Notes Turn on the equipment again and press the SBC RU 230's buttons to see if they are working as expected. If your equipment does not respond correctly, repeat steps 1 to 4 to find a better code. READING OUT THE 3-DIGIT BRAND CODE After using autosearch to set up the SBC RU 230, note the 3-digit code for future use. Press the button of the device [TV, VCR or AUX] you want to read the code from. Press 1: the indicator starts to blink; Count the number of blinks for the first digit.
