Display
This display tells you what is happening on your telephone.
Down Key
Press this key to move through the menu or to decrease earpiece volume during calls.
Up Key
Press this key to move through the menu or to increase earpiece volume during calls or to delete a character when entering a number or name.
Answering machine Key
Press this key to operate your answering machine.
OK Key
Press this key to confirm a menu selection or to scroll the number on the display.
Loudspeaker Key
Press this key to turn the base or the handset loudspeaker on or off.
Phonebook Key
Press this key to consult your Phonebook.
Dialling Key
Use this key to make, answer or end calls.
Number/Character Keypad
Use these keys for dialling and for entering characters.
Unlock Key
Press and hold this key to unlock the keypad.
Recall/Menu Key
Press this key to consult the menus, or to use the Recall function during a call.
Redial Key
Press this key to redial the last numbers called.
Caller List Key
Press this key to consult the caller list.
Internal Call Key
Press this key to make internal calls and to transfer an outside call to another handset.

Volume Key (-)
Press this key to decrease loudspeaker volume during calls or when listening to messages.
Volume Key (+)
Press this key to increase loudspeaker volume during calls or when listening to messages.
Messages indicator light Replay Key
While listening to the messages, press this key once/twice to play the current/ previous message again.
Play/stop key
Press this key to play the received messages. Press again this key to stop.
Next Key Erase Key
While listening to the messages, press this key once to erase the current message. After listening to all messages, press this key for 2 seconds to erase all messages. While listening to the messages, press this key to play the next message.
On/Off answering machine key with indicator light
Press this key to switch on/off the answering machine.
Paging Key
Press this key to make all the handsets in range ring.
Power/Line indicator light
Base station indicator lights : See page 32 for explanation.

The display
These symbols tell you what is happening on your phone.

- you are consulting the menus. [. . . ] If your answering machine has received messages, it will answer on the third ring. If no messages have been recorded, it will answer on the fifth ring.
Tip
If there are no messages, you can hang up after the fourth ring and not pay for the call.
Switching message record on or off
If you do not want callers to leave message, switch off the message record function (RECORD OFF). If you want callers to be able to leave messages again, switch on the incoming message record function (RECORD ON). Your Onis Vox is delivered with the message record function set to ON.
1 Press R, then press - until you reach ANSW SETUP. 2 Press - until you reach RECORD, then press o. 3 Press - or + to select ON or OFF, then press o to confirm your
choice. The handset beeps to confirm the new setting.
4 Press R to exit menu mode.

Your Onis Answering machine
Information
You can record a message for the answer only mode. This message does not replace the message used in the answering machine-recorder mode.
Selecting the recording quality
The setting of the recording quality concerns the received messages only, not the outgoing messages. By default, the recording quality of your answering machine is set to high.
1 Press R , then press - until you reach ANSW SETUP. 2 Press - until you reach REC QUALIT, then press o. 3 Press - or + to select STANDARD or HIGH, then press o to confirm
your choice. The handset beeps to confirm the new setting.
Your answering machine's advanced functions
Recording a local message
You can use the answering machine to leave a message for someone who has access to your answering machine. The message will be stored with the received messages.
1 Press r to enter answering machine mode then, if message playback starts, press s. 3 Speak clearly within 10 cm of the handset microphone. 4 To stop recording, press s.
A beep indicates the end of the recording. The local message will be added to any other messages left by callers. It will be counted and played back in the same way as the other messages.
5 Press r to exit answering machine mode.

Switching on the answering machine by remote control
Before you can call into your answering machine by remote control, you need to enter a remote control code (see "Entering a remote control code" on page 19).
1 Dial your telephone number. Let it ring 9 times.
The answering machine will start up and send back a waiting tone.
2 Press * on the telephone and enter your remote control code. 3 Press 7 on the telephone keypad and hang up.
Your answering machine is once again ready to handle calls.
Calling into your answering machine by remote control
You can call into your answering machine from any telephone by calling your own telephone number. If your answering machine does not answer, the memory is full or the answering machine is not switched on.
1 Dial your telephone number then, during the outgoing message, press key * on the telephone. 2 Enter your 4 digit code.
If the code is correct, your answering machine will play back any messages automatically. If the code is wrong, the outgoing message will be repeated.
