[. . . ] The instructions here give you a little more control over the recording you make. 5 1 Load the CD you want to copy in to the CD changer. You can use any of the three disc trays in the changer. Press the DISC (CD SELECT on the front panel) button for the disc you want to record. If you want to adjust the recording level, do so here. See Setting the recording level on page 19 for how to adjust it. 2 Load a CD-R or CD-RW into the CD-R tray. If the disc isn't blank, make sure that there is enough space on the disc for what you want to record (see Switching the Display on page 30 for how to check this). 6 Press COPY START CD =CD-R. The recorder starts copying the disc. If FINALIZE is on, the recorder will finalize the disc after copying it. Be careful: if there's a playlist programmed, the tracks appearing on the playlist will be recorded. · If the button is blinking, there's not enough space on the disc for what you want to record. On the remote, use the three DISC buttons. 1 Load the CD(s) you want to copy tracks from in to the CD changer. You can use any of the three disc trays in the changer. 5 2 Load a CD-R or CD-RW into the CD-R tray. If the disc isn't blank, make sure that there is enough space on the disc for what you want to record (see Switching the Display on page 30 for how to check this). Use 4 1 and ¡¢ (CD changer side) to select the track you want to record. On the remote, use the 4 and ¢ buttons. If you want to adjust the digital recording level, do so here. See Setting the recording level on page 19 for how to adjust it. 3 Press COPY MODE twice. The display shows Track Copy. If you want to switch the copying speed, do so here. See Changing the copying speed on page 19 for how to change it. 6 Press COPY START CD=CD-R. If you want to switch the copying speed, do so here. See Changing the copying speed on page 19 for how to change it. If you want to adjust the digital recording level, do so here. See Setting the recording level on page 19 for how to adjust it. 1 Load the CD(s) you want to program tracks from in to the CD changer. If you want to automatically space the tracks on the recording, press AUTO SPACE. Switching on automatic spacing makes sure that there's a few seconds of silence between each recorded track. 6 Press COPY START CD =CD-R. Recording stops automatically after the playlist has finished. If the playlist is longer than the recording time available on the CD-R/CD-RW, recording stops when the end of the disc is reached. · If you want to now finalize the disc, turn to page 20. 3 Program a playlist of tracks you want to record. The display shows Program Copy. 18 5 Copying CDs COMPACT DISC RECORDER / MULTI-CD CHANGER ÛB¿^/ 3- COMPACT DISC MULTI CHANGER CHECK COMPACT DISC DIGITAL RECORDER 3-CD CONTROL CD-R CONTROL REC LEVEL 41 ¡¢ 7 PUSH ON-OFF Changing the copying speed The recorder defaults to double (x2) speed, but if you want to listen to the CD as it's recorded, single (x1) speed is better. 1 Press 4 1 or ¡ ¢ (CD-R side) to switch the copying speed. The COPY indicator shows the selected speed (x1 or x2). Note: when copying or recording at double speed, you can only monitor the recording through the analog outputs, or through a pair of headphones. No signal is output from the digital outputs. Setting the recording level When recording commercially produced CDs, the recording level has already been optimized and you don't need to change it. Boosting the level will generally result in distortion where there are peaks in the music. If you're recording a noncommercially produced CD that has been consistently underrecorded, you may need to boost the level.
