Ballasts
The ProDaylight lamp head can be powered by two types of ballasts. Profoto's Magnetic Ballast which is available for various voltage conditions and Profoto's Electronic Ballast which has automatic voltage selection for all types of voltage. The Magnetic Ballast When used for still photography, the shutter speed should not be set to more than 1/90 sec. to eliminate the risk of underexposed pictures. The light output cannot be regulated with the Magnetic Ballast. The Electronic Ballast The Electronic Ballast produces a flicker-free light, which allows any shutter speed to be used in still photography or when filming. It is also designed for the light settings used when "scanning" pictures and the long exposure time this requires. The light output can be reduced by 50% (1 f/stop) which will also increase the colour temperature considerably.
