EASY INSTALLATION FOR PC
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
· Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or Windows XP operating system · Personal computer with at least one unused USB port (Hi-Speed USB 2. 0 recommended for Travan 40 GB drive) · CD-ROM drive (for software installation) To install your new Travan Portable USB tape drive, follow the simple steps listed below. For detailed installation instructions and troubleshooting tips, see the online manual on the Certance Resource CD that came with your tape drive.

1. [. . . ] Connect the power cord into the transformer. Connect the power plug to the wall outlet or power strip. Note: For European and Asia-Pacific models, plug adapters are included.

4. Turn on the tape drive.
Move the power switch on the back of the drive to the ON (up) position. Connect the USB cable.
Note: Your computer must be powered on and booted up before you attach the USB drive. Attach one end of the USB cable to your tape drive. Attach the other end to your computer's USB port. (The back of your system may look different than the one pictured. ) See Figure 3.
6. Install the USB driver (Windows XP/Windows 2003).

If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2003, after Windows finds the plug and play device, the Found New Hardware wizard will open. Select Install from a list or specific location and click Next. Select Don't search, I will choose driver to install and then click Next. On the hardware type screen, scroll through the list, select Tape Drives and then click Next. Select the device driver you want to install: Manufacturer: (standard tape drives), Model: IDE (QIC-157) tape drives. Click Yes through the update driver warning.
