Section 6: Learning About Your Vehicle
It is important to become familiar with the features of your vehicle so that your child rides as safely as possible. Read the vehicle owner's manual to learn about the safety features and adjustments available for safe travel. Below is a diagram that helps you to identify key features. If there is interference in placing the Vivo / Vivo lite flat against the vehicle seat bottom and back cushions, adjust the vehicle seat back angle or choose another seating position. If the vehicle will be driven without a child seated in the restraint, either fasten the 3-point belt around the restraint (see Section 4 for belt routing) or store it somewhere outside the passenger cabin so that it cannot injure anyone while the vehicle is in motion. RECARO recommends storing the child restraint in a cool and dry location.
WARNING!DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY can occur
· Restraint systems should be securely belted to the vehicle, even when they are not occupied, since in a crash an unsecured child restraint system may injure other occupants.

Section 8: Riding in the VivoTM / VivoTM lite
1. Adjust the Vivo / Vivo lite head restraint as described in Section 5. Provided that your child's height is the proper range between 37 and 59 inches (94 and 150 cm) tall and weigh 30 to 100 lbs (13. 6 to 45. 4 kg), have your child sit in the Vivo / Vivo lite. Use the following steps every time the Vivo / Vivo lite is used to double check whether the child has outgrown the height adjustment or if the head restraint was moved since its last use. · Make sure the child's shoulders are 1 below the red shoulder belt routing. · Make sure the child's ears (or middle of the head) are centered in the head restraint. - The child is too tall when he or she is greater than 59 inches (150 cm) tall or when his or her ear is above the top edge of the head restraint when the head restraint is adjusted to its highest position. - The child is too short when his or her ear is below the bottom edge of the head restraint when the head restraint is adjusted to its lowest position. If adjustments need to be made, refer to Section 5: "Adjusting the Vivo / Vivo lite to fit the Child".

2. Next, place the vehicle's 3-point seat belt around the child and through the red belt routings as follows:
1
a. Route the shoulder portion of the vehicle's 3-point seat belt through the red shoulder belt routing on the seat belt supply side of the head restraint. Route the lap belt portion of the 3-point seat belt through the red routing on the seat belt supply side of the restraint located just below the armrests. Route the lap and shoulder belt portions of the 3-point seat belt across the child and through the red routing indicator on the buckle side of the restraint located just below the armrest. Finally, fasten the safety belt buckle, and pull up on the shoulder section of the seat belt to remove all excess slack from the lap and shoulder belts The seat belts must ALWAYS be adjusted snugly across the child. Double check the seat to make sure it is squarely positioned on the vehicle seat and that the child is not pinched, squeezed or experiencing discomfort.

WARNING!DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY can occur
· Do NOT use the child restraint when the child's shoulders are even with or above the red shoulder belt routing when the head restraint is adjusted to its highest position. [. . . ] It is considered "supplementary" to the lap/shoulder belts because it enhances the protection the belt system offers in frontal crashes. Also known as SRS - supplemental restraint system; SIR supplemental inflatable restraint; SIPS side impact protection system; IC inflatable curtain; SIAB side impact airbag. Belt-Positioning Booster: A platform that raises the child (provides a taller sitting height) so adult lap and shoulder belts fit better; some have high backs as well. Never use with a lap belt only across the child. [. . . ]
