When the computer is in Standby mode, you cannot insert a disc. The computer comes out of Standby mode quicker than out of Hibernate mode and uses more power. If you are interrupted and need to leave your computer suddenly, you can put it into Hibernate mode. This power saving mode saves you the time of shutting down in the normal way. When you put your computer into Hibernate mode: Everything in the memory is saved to the hard disk. In the Turn Off Computer screen, hold down the <Shift> key to reveal the Hibernate button. The computer goes into Hibernate mode, the computer turns off. Alternatively, quickly press the power button. To return to Normal mode, quickly press the power button. You can leave Windows running when using Hibernate. Move the tab to the right or left to set or release write-protection. (On the 128 MB Memory Stick , move the tab up or down. ) When the erasure prevention switch is off, data can be saved on the Memory Stick. When the erasure prevention switch is on, data can be read from but not saved on the Memory Stick. This image does not apply to the 128 MB Memory Stick, which has a vertical lock.
