[. . . ] When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to person do not immerse cord, plugs, or machine in water or other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. [. . . ] Insert the plug of the other end of the cable into a wall socket with suitable power voltage. Never remove the portafilter by manually turning it clockwise while coffee is brewing. During this operation the machine ready light (5) may flash. Before using the machine, make sure that the hot water/ steam knob (7) is closed and that there is enough water in the tank. 4B) - If the machine is off, switch it on by means of the power button (2). Wait until the machine ready light (5) comes on. 2) - Rinse and fill it with fresh drinking water, taking care not to overfill it. 3) - Re-insert the tank into its seat and re-position the water suction tube. Fill the tank with only fresh, non-sparkling, drinking water. Hot water or any other liquid may damage the tank. Do not switch on the machine with empty tank: Make sure there is enough water in the tank. Before starting up the machine, after a long period of inactivity and whenever the tank is empty, the machine's water circuit must be primed. 8A) - Insert the ground coffee filter basket (15) into the portafilter (14). 10) - Insert the portafilter into the brew unit from the bottom (8). 11) - Turn the portafilter to the right, until it locks into place. 13) - Preheat the portafilter by pressing the brew button (4) until some water pours out of the portafilter. This operation is only necessary for the first coffee. After some water has flowed out, press the brew button (4) again to stop hot water dispensing. 15) - Remove the portafilter from the machine by turning it from right to left and drain any water remaining in the portafilter. As the machine is fitted with the special portafilter (14), there is no need to change the filter when making one or two coffees. 8B) - Add 1 or 2 scoops of ground coffee to the filter for one or two coffees, respectively. Clean any coffee residues from the edge of the portafilter. [. . . ] This normally builds up with the use of the appliance. Descaling is necessary every 2-3 working months and/or when you notice any reduction in water flow. The symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product may not be treated as household waste. Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. [. . . ]
